How is Water added to the atmosphere?

Water is added to the atmosphere through a process called evaporation. This happens when the sun heats up water on the surface of the Earth.

How is water vapour released into the air?

Water vapor gets in the air from the process of evaporation. It floats up into the air, and freezes high up and forms clouds. It then either rains or snows down, and the process starts all over again.

Why would droplets of water form on the outside of the glass?

The effect is called Condensation You can look this up easily.

When you see water on the outside of a cold soda can it has collected there because of from water vapor from the air?

Yes. The process is called condensation, and it's driven by the fact that the temperature of the air decides how much moisture it can carry. Warm air, the water stays as vapour. Then the warm air hits the cold can, the air cools off, can't carry as much moisture anymore and the excess ends up on the can as droplets.

Water has a high specific heat and land has a low specific heat. what's the result of this uneven heating of the earth's surface?

The result is, that water changes temperature more slowly than the land, meaning the climate near to the water (for instance the ocean) is more calm - the winter is not so cold and the summer is fresh instead of boiling hot. Also, the air pressure as we know, depends on the temperature. The uneven temperature means uneven pressure and therefore winds. A good example for this are monsoon winds. For example, in coastal regions during day time the heat absorbed from sun by the land surface is five times faster than that of water in sea because of water has high specific heat and hence water gets slowly heated up. Therefore air above the land surface gets heated up and rises above from the surface and there by decreasing the pressure on the surface of land. Hence cold air flows from surface of sea water on to land surface. This phenomenon is called as "sea breeze". Reverse process happens during the night time and process is called as "land breeze".

What are island made up of?

They are made of magma (melted rock) under the water are volcanoes which burst and let magma get out the magma travels up and lays on the water which then drys and turns into an island.

What does humidity have to do with water?

Humidity is water dissolved in air. When you mom hangs her washing out to dry, the wind drys it by taking up the water. This water is "humidity". When the air is saturated with water it condenses out as mist (clouds).
