A computer's processor speed describes the maximum number of calculations per second the processor can perform, and is given in megahertz (MHz) or gigahertz (GHz). Generally, the larger the number, the faster and more powerful the processor.

Under System, you can view the processor type and speed, as well as the number of processors installed, if your computer uses multiple processors.

Older computers and some netbooks still have speeds in MHz (Megahertz). These speeds may be doubled if the computer has more than one processor, or the processor has 2 or more cores.

To find out the speed of your computer running windows,

Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

For Mac users, click the Apple logo and click "About This Mac".
