A stream is how a program reads to and writes from a file. When a program needs to create or edit a file, it opens up a "stream" to the file, "streams" the intended data to the file, and then saves it before closing the stream.
"Output" refers to what the program produces - normally what it shows on screen, or perhaps writes to a file.
The most reliable way is the use a program which reads and writes both formats
At the top-left hand side of a computer software or program (generally Macintosh and Windows) there is a tab that writes 'File' and after clicking that tab, a drop-down menu will appear.
fopen() Creates a new file for use Opens a new existing file for use fclose Closes a file which has been opened for use getc() Reads a character from a file putc() Writes a character to a file fprintf() Writes a set of data values to a file fscanf() Reads a set of data values from a file getw() Reads a integer from a file putw() Writes an integer to the file fseek() Sets the position to a desired point in the file ftell() Gives the current position in the file rewind() Sets the position to the begining of the file
How do you add a program to a file folder?
To establish exclusive control of a file so only one program can access it at a time and prevent potential data loss if one program writes information back that hasn't been updated wit the information from another program.
When you delete a file from the trash bin, the data is still there for the file but the reference to the file (the area on the storage device that shows where all the files are) is deleted. You can permanently delete a file by using a program, such as Eraser (http://www.tolvanen.com/eraser/) that writes random data where the file was.
Files are named in the method: filename.extension When the file is a program, the extension is 'exe' so if a file called 'hello' was a program, it would be called: hello.exe

You can open these files with Babylon electronic dictionaries software. See www.babylon.com. Microsoft Flight Simulator also writes saved games to the files with such extensions.
