Christians without the holy spirit would be a sorry looking bunch. With it they wield power and wisdom, grace and love.

No. The Comforter of whom Jesus speaks is the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead. Muslims do not recognize the trinity and see it as believing in three gods, which is an unforgiveable sin to them. So, no, the concepts are quite different.
Jesus will send the Holy Spirit to be everpresent with believers, guiding them, comforting them, and empowering them to live according to his teachings.
