In traditional engines (not overhead cam), the camshaft pushes lifters UP. Lifters push the pushrods UP, but the valves need to be pushed DOWN... so the rocker arm "rocks" on a shaft that pushes one side down when the other side goes up.
It's not a difficult job. Rocker arms aren't doing the most stressful job in the engine, but they do eventually wear out.
Part of the problem is, Engineers attempt to make the rocker arms s light as possible so they can move back when the camshaft/lifter/push rod relaxes. The weight of the valve train (all those components PLUS the weight of the valves) tend to contribute to valve "float", that's when the spring can't push that mass of material back fast enough when the engine is operating at high RPM.
Since the valve train has deliberately been kept "lightweight", they tend to wear. That's one of the reasons for an overhead cam in an engine. You do away with the push rod and rocker.
A laptop arm is an arm and a mount that the laptop sits upon. The purpose for a laptop arm is so the consumer does not have to look down on one's own laptop.
The humerus bone is the one in your upper arm, and it is needed when you want to move your arm.

to eat algae and make beautiful starfish babies
yes, if it wasn't on purpose.
its probably the "kickdown" cable or arm, to shift gears according to how much pressure you have on the acelerator
You have no muscles in your fingers only tendons. The muscles in your lower arm control your hand movements and grip strength
The purpose of the arm is to connect the tube to the base of the microscope. When carrying a microscope you should always have one hand holding the "arm" of the microscope and one supporting the base of the microscope.

One of my best friends was roller blading and she fell, applied pressure to her arm while falling and broke her arm. That's one way. Another way, which again happened to my friend, her sister pushed her off of a toy box and she broke her arm. Don't ask me how she broke her arm falling off of a toy box because I don't know! :| Well also my sister broke her arm by falling off a chair. But the real question is why would you want to break your arm on purpose?!
Control arm bushings are an essential need for the suspension system of your vehicle. The control arm bushings makes for a more smooth ride when on rough terrain. They allow the control arm to move and absorb shock.
The purpose of the arm is so that when you put your eye to the lens, that it doesn't move, and it holds the lens still so the image is not blurry.
