A Bar exam is required only as a requisite to practice law in that state - I know of no other reason one would have to take a Bar exam.
A bi-manual exam IS a pelvic exam and there is no reason for a doctor to do one just to check if you are pregnant. An ultrasound will show far more than a pelvic esam ever could.
What i think is that the Song Dynasty made the Exam System better, the reason i say that is because back then if you passed the test you will get a government job

'At the exam' and 'during the exam' refer to the time and place at which the exam was given.
