For a long time the standard used to be 512 MB. But now with Vista, advanced applications, and extreme graphics, gaming, and multimedia, the minimum requirement for RAM is atleast 1 GB. 1 GB is still only for basic computer needs though. If using advanced applications such as computer aided design, video or photo editing, or gaming, 2 GB of RAM should be sufficient. With a new windows operating system on the verge of appearance (in 2009) 3 GB would probably not be a bad way to go either (especially if your into a lot of multimedia).

RAM is faster
Random Access Memory stores the functions (applications) on your phone. It is the same as RAM in a PC and allows applications to be stored and run from memory. RAM can be over written, meaning that new applications can be loaded and use the space, once older applications are deleted or closed.
No RAM was required for the original Mario Kart game. RAM is required most for computer games and the original Mario Kart was not ever released for PC.
15Gb is recommended/\_______don't think that by "memory" the question is talking about harddrive space, which is what this answer appears to be attempting to answer. By memory, typically one is referring to RAM. As far as ram is concerned, I would recommend at least 512MB. To really be able to do multiple tab browsing with videos, music and the like I would recommend 1-2GB. If you're talking about wanting to watch blu-ray video at 1080p or games 4GB+Added by DaviePCRepair:The required memory to install Windows XP is 64MB, the recommended amount of RAM is 128 MB to 4BGReference: Guide to Managing & Maintaining Your PC Sixth Edition, By Jean Andrews
