NOT a symbiotic relation. It is a parasitic relation. In symbiosis, each thing gives some benefit to the other. A tick provides no benefit to the dog, it just drinks their blood. It gives them nothing but disease.

Ticks don't always kill dogs, although some carry dangerous illnesses--it depends on where you live. Ticks can be quite difficult to remove, but you should remove and kill any you find. If your dog goes outdoors, you should search the dog for ticks in warm weather. The tick is a parasite; it drinks the dog's blood by sticking its little snout through the skin into a blood vessel. To keep the blood from clotting, I think it injects some of its saliva which can carry dangerous bacteria.
