The Vedas are the oldest sacred texts of Hinduism, which are divided into four collections: Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda. Vedic texts refer to a broader category of texts that include the Vedas and other related texts like the Brahmanas, Aranyakas, and Upanishads, which were composed later and provide philosophical interpretations and rituals based on the Vedas.

There are the four Vedas (the Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana Vedas) but the period of the development of Hinduism in which they were written (and some time before that) is sometimes referred to as the Vedic period. So, hypothetically, any text from that time could be "Vedic" but as a general rule the Vedic texts are the texts that only come from the four Vedas.
