The Savior showed the importance of baptism by being baptized Himself. He lived a perfect life, but still was baptized to 'fulfill all righteousness.' That means that He was baptized because it is a required ordinance (John 3:5), and to be a perfect example. We must be baptized by His authority in order for the baptism to be valid in the eyes of God, and that authority has been restored to the earth by God in these days!
