There are no "Roman Catholic" people, it’s just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. All Catholic people's religion is Christian, they are followers of Our Blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.



Further.

Though the above may be the belief of most (Roman) Catholics the term is also used to differentiate from other Catholic Christian churches with slightly different dogma and ceremonies.

It is certainly not meant as a derogatory term by other religions today.
