Sun Dance

The Sioux and their religion are important to them and to what they believe in, they believe in the Great Spirit (Wakan tanka), the circle of life and the sun dance and so on. In my opinion I think that the Sioux are really actually religious, this is because they do religion practices and have many beliefs and following it in a prescribed sequence.
The plural form of Sioux is Sioux.

The Souix like all Native Americans practiced religion on a tribal level. There was no unifying religion like Christianity or Islam to unite multiple tribes. The despite this religion played a big role in the Souix lifestyle. Some good information on the souix religion can be found here: http://philtar.ucsm.ac.uk/encyclopedia/nam/sioux.html
In 1862 the Dakota Sioux were known as the Dakota/Dakotah or the Sioux or the Dakota Sioux.
The Sioux religion, rooted in the spiritual beliefs and practices of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota tribes, has origins that predate European contact, likely developing over centuries as a result of the tribes' interactions with their environment and each other. Key elements, such as the reverence for the Great Spirit and the importance of rituals like the Sun Dance, have been integral to their cultural identity for generations. While it is challenging to pinpoint an exact beginning, the Sioux spiritual traditions have been continuously practiced and adapted since ancient times.
Please refer to the Iroqois Indians religion question. There was no such word for 'religion' before the Europeans arrived. What the white men see as 'religion' is only a way of life for the Native American. In today's society is our way to be gluttons and hunt for sport; in the old days the Native Americans hunted only what they needed. That was their way of life; to respect the animals and not abuse them.
