Answer:
There are no specific days of Shawwal. The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) used to fast more in Shawwal than any other month (other than Ramadhan, of course). This was in preparation for Ramadhan. But there are no specific days.
From the Sunnah (way) of Muhammad (peace be upon him) was:
Fasting three days in the middle of the lunar month (the 13th, 14th and 15th), as well as fasting on Mondays, and Thursdays. He discouraged fasting on Fridays (as a continual habit) without also adding either Thursday, or Saturday. That is simply because he did not want people to start inventing a practice of fasting on the day of congregational prayers. That would be a change to the religion.
Eid al-Fitr, often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "to break fast"; and so the holiday symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period.
Fasting is not recommended for pregnant mothers. (By fasting I mean not eating, perhaps drinking water, for several days). Being a little hungry now and again is not a problem.
There is no fasting on the Eid ul-Fitr as that is the one-day holiday (the first day of the month of Shawwal) Muslims celebrate. For the previous 29 or 30 days, Muslims were fasting for the entire month of Ramadan. When the new moon is sighted at the end of the month of Ramadan, Muslims will celebrate the next day as the Eid ul-Fitr. On that day all fasting is forbidden.
Id-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the begining 3 days of Shawwal (10th Month) and comes as a reward or celebration after a whole month of fasting in Ramadan (9th Month). The Islamic calendar is based on Lunar system better known as the Hijrah Calendar and therefore the months on lunar calendar are not fixed and vary as with the general Gregorian Calendar being followed. Every Hijrah year has few less days than the previous Gregorian year and, therefore, cannot be pre-determined as opposed to the Gregorian Calendar. The main reason being that the months in lunar calendar can vary from 28 - 30 days depending on the lunar cycle. For Example, in 2005 Id-ul-Fitr came on 3rd of November, in 2006 it was nearly on 26th of October and in 2007 it was celebrated on 12rh of October.Itis celebrated on the FIRST day of Shawwal.
