Many say a teacher's role in contemporary society is commercialized. As if students were customers, teachers have come to teach in a more calculated fashion to prepare students for the world as it is today.
The teachers role is to help students learn and apply their learning to real life experiences. Teachers are there to help you motivate and inspire you and other students to be the best they can.
Predominantly, teachers will play the same role that they played in the 20th century. However, as technology becomes more prevalent, teachers are likely to take on the facilitator role more and more. Also, as assessment becomes a more important part of education and the standard for success increases, teachers will likely be placed in the role of researcher as they attempt to understand which techniques work for which types of students in order to maximize proficiency. The availability of quality quantitative information about study "success" is likely to contribute to this trend.
I am not sure what you are asking for. So I will try my best to answer. Teachers have a set curriculum (what has to be taught to their students before the year/semester ends). In the classroom, they are expected to know this material and to teach it. Teachers should be kind, caring, and understanding. They need to be thoughtful and helping. Surly not all teachers are perfect.
Now, outside of school? Is that what you mean? Well, simply put. What is your role in your community? What do you do? Teachers are people like you. They have families, they have lives. Not all teachers join clubs, or volunteer. Many just don't have the time. Many young students are unaware of the fact that teachers work when they DO NOT get paid. They go home and correct your papers, and they DO NOT get paid for that. They set up the assignments and classwork at home as well.
Teachers are people. They do not have a set role outside the classroom.
In my opinion a role of a teacher today is to educate, give advice and help students reach their full potential in the subject they teach.
