"Thorp" is a somewhat archaic word meaning, more or less, "village". According to Google Translate, the Latin form would be Oppidum Longum (actually, it suggests "dum vicum" for "long village", but that doesn't seem right, "Oppidum Longum" is what it comes up with for "long town").
