what is the importance of chem. to doctor too? oh ! c'mon
I am inclined to ask "What is it that you are smelling?" As a general rule of thumb, no. Unless you have a past experience or you are a chemist, the nose is a sensory organ that cannot tell you if you are being harmed. Some things, such as a skunk or flatulence, can really stink, but not harmful. Other things, such as the WW I poison gas phosgene, has the smell of freshly-mowed hay and can kill you.
