Just started for a directional drilling company yesterday. My job title is MWD Field Engineer. Absolutely no experience what so ever. Starting out is 72K a year.
Measurement While Drilling engineer. This tech installs and monitors telemetry equipment on an oil drilling rig that indicates where the drill stem is and reports that information to the driller.
An oil field is not the place that most people think of when they are looking for a job. However, there are several different positions that companies are frantically attempting to fill that pay well enough to ensure that the person working at the job as a satisfactory lifestyle. Truck Driver A truck driver for an oil field will be in charge of moving all of the equipment that an oil field needs to function, including rigs. It will also be able to transport all of the oil and water to their final destinations. This job can make up to $2,500 a week, with a starting salary of approximately $45,000 a year, according to Payscale.com. Derrick Hand A derrick hand is an oil field worker that checks to make sure that there is enough drilling fluid at all times, as well as ensures that the pumps are working correctly. A person who works at this job will also need to guide the pipes that are used for drilling. This job is slightly more dangerous than other oil field jobs. It is paid accordingly, with a starting salary of $69,000, according to Indeed.com. Floorhand and Roustabout A person who works at this type of job will do a lot of the basic manual, including digging trenches for the pipes, maintaining equipment that is on the oil field, building temporary structures at the location where they are needed, and transporting equipment to different location. This job, according to the Drilling Oil and Natural Gas Wells Salary Survey, pays about $54,000 when a person first starts and can increase over time. MWD Field Engineer An MWD, or measuring while drilling field engineer, will be able to take the readings of the pipes and other equipment while the drilling process is in full swing. This engineer is in charge of making sure that the drilling process is done correctly and safely to maximize efficiency and ensure that no one gets hurt. Their starting salary is $63,000 a year and can go up to $80,000, as stated by Glassdoor.com.
"MWD" stands for measurement while drilling. A "MWD Hand" operates a expensive tool which is used to measure inclination and azimuth on a oil drilling rig. each MWD tool is different and each have their own application.
the penetration of SWD is deeper than MWD MWD is easier than SWD (ease of application) MWD treats 1 aspect of the body but SWD treats 2 aspects also there are diffrences in wavelength and frequency and other differences may be !
MWD. Malay won't die
The airport code for PAF Base Mianwali is MWD.
MWD- Microsoft Word Document.
MWD is measurement while drilling. It records values like direction, inclination, toolface etc, which all are values needed to achieve a successful drilling. LWD is logging while drilling. It records logs (which generally are run by wireline, after drilling). Most common being gamma and resistivity logs. It gives us real time log data which helps to geosteer. In BHA, the arrangement is like... [ BIT - RSS* - MWD* - LWD* ] (* - optional)
If your are an experienced hand you should make at least 150,000 a year depending on how much you work
Britain went to war with Iraq because of a lie, it was supposdly a WMD that started it, but there was no proof of a MWD in the first place. timothy the cat.
If it runs at 1000 MW (for example) and it runs all year at this power level, it will produce 365,000 MWd (megawattdays) of electricity in one year.

Fuel usage (referred to as 'burnup') in a nuclear reactor is generally quoted in units of Megawatt.days per tonne (metric ton = 1000kg). For typical lightwater reactors it is 40,000 MWd/T, after that the fuel is discharged, though it is not possible to ensure that all the fuel reaches this level before discharge. Anyway, taking 40,000 MWd/T as the figure, this means that for 50 kg which is 1/20 of a tonne, the energy produced will be 2,000 MWd. Note this is for typical fuel at about 4 to 5 percent U-235. It is only the U-235 that contributes but the weight of the fuel is taken as the total weight of uranium. The energy figure given is the thermal energy produced by the reactor, not the electrical energy produced which is about 1/3 of this, the rest being rejected to ambient.
A typical PWR reactor has an electrical output of 1100 MWe, so in one day this would produce 1100 MWD or 26,400 MWhours or 26,400,000 KWh
A large nuclear power reactor will have a thermal output of about 3000 MW. If this runs all day every day it will therefore produce 3000 x 365 MWD (Megawattdays) of energy in a year.
What does your book weigh? Say it is 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds). The fuel loading in a large reactor is around 75 tonnes, that is 75,000 kg, and it will produce say 4000 MW thermal output, so in a year if it operates continuously at full power the fuel output is about 4000 x 365 MWdays or about 20 MWd per kg of fuel, per annum.
In directional drilling, "Closure Direction" is the azimuth in degrees from well center to a particular point in the well bore. To determine your Closure Direction you need two numbers. The current Latitude(+N/-S) and the Departure(+E/-W) from well center. The main thing to consider when calculating Closure Direction is which quadrant the coordinates are in, as it affects the calulation. The formula to determine Closure Direction in Excel would be as follows: =IF(AND(Latitude>0,Departure<0),ATAN(Departure/Latitude)*180/PI()+360,IF(Latitude<0,ATAN(Departure/Latitude)*180/PI()+180,ATAN(Departure/Latitude)*180/PI()))) Signed, Your friendly neighborhood MWD
The amount of energy obtained from nuclear fuel is expressed as so many megawattdays per tonne, in a liquid water reactor (LWR) it is now around 60,000 MWd/tonne. So if a reactor power output is say 3000 MW (thermal), in one day it will use up 1/20 tonne of fuel, and in a year it will use 18.25 tonne. With reactors that can be refuelled during operation, or during short shutdown periods, the individual fuel assemblies can be changed as required giving flexibility, this applies to the advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGR's) built in the UK. With LWR's where the top of the pressure vessel has to be removed for fuelling, this is only possible during long outages (though they have become much shorter with practice), and so a large proportion of the fuel is changed each time. When a reactor has settled into a routine of regular fuelling outages, this would probably be at about two yearly intervals, and about 1/3 of the fuel changed each time, so any particular assembly could stay in the reactor for about six years on average.
