Coral reef
A fringing reef forms a continuous underwater "wall" for some distance, where as a "barrier Reef" are shorter in distances, and have large gaps in them....and will be between shore and the Barrier Reef..............Sea Rambo
Erg and esker are landforms. An erg is a flat sandy area of the desert with no vegetation. An esker is a ridge of sand and gravel that is long and winding.
This reef is the Great Barrier Reef. At 2300 km long, it is the largest reef in the world.
The Great Barrier Reef is along the coast/shore of Queensland, Australia.
A fringing reef grows in shallow waters usually a few feet from shore or in lagoons. They are often confused for barrier reefs just by the overall growth of the reef. However, with barrier reefs there is usually a deep portion and located farther from shore than with a fringing reef.
The floor of a coral reef is typically rocky rather than sandy. Coral reefs are built from the calcium carbonate structures created by coral polyps, resulting in a hard substrate. However, sandy areas can be present around the reef, particularly in lagoons or along the periphery, but the main structural components of the reef itself are rocky.
The Great Barrier Reef stretches over 3000km, almost parallel to the Queensland coast, from Bundaberg to Cape York. The reef, between 15 and 150km off shore and 65km wide in some parts, lies in the Coral Sea.
