Palmerston in the Northern Territory, Australia. Palmerston is near Darwin Harbour and has a population of 27,185 people making up 12% of the territory's population. This makes it the second largest city in the Northern Territory.

Palmerston is just ahead of Alice Springs which, in 2006, had a population of almost 24,000.

Uluru/Ayers Rock is the largest monolith in the Northern Territory. After Uluru, the next largest monolith in the Northern Territory is Mt Connor, sometimes known as Mt Conner. Incidentally, the largest monolith is actually Mount Augustus, in Western Australia. It is generally not recognised as the largest monolith, because it is not completely bald and exposed as is Uluru.
