The salivary glands have two kinds of secretory cells - serous and mucous cells.
Serous cells produce a watery fluid that includes the digestive enzyme salivary amylase. This splits starch and glycogen molecules into disaccharides.
Mucous cells secrete a thick liquid called mucouswhich binds food particles and lubricates the food during swallowing.
Parotid Gland
muscle tension and tremor
A salivary gland scan is a nuclear medicine test that examines the uptake and secretion in the salivary glands of a radioactively labeled marker substance. The pattern of uptake and secretion shows if these glands are functioning normally.
The secretion form the salivary gland is called saliva.
Parotid Gland
The largest of the salivary glands is the parotid gland. The parotid gland comes in a pair and functions to aid in swallowing by secreting saliva.
salivary amylase
Abnormally functioning salivary glands fail to exhibit a normal uptake and secretion pattern. This test does not differentiate between benign and malignant lesions.
It's the sublingual salivary gland.
The Salivary Galnd Secretion starts right at the back of your throut where you tongue starts it is really good for you because then you know that you cant swallow your tongue either because there is a bit on the botton of your tongue that stops it from going all the way down your throut :) xx
The largest salivary gland is parotid
There are 3 salivary glands; the parotid gland, the sublingual gland, and the submandibular gland. The submandibular gland used to be the "submaxillary gland."
