Located on the butt and inside the frame by the yoke. The Smith and Wesson model 27 third variation was made from 1982-1988.
There should be a stamped model number on the left side of your barrel. The serial number will be on the reciever; however, the model number is on the barrel.
Depending on condition, blued or stanless, type barrel, type sights (which I can't tell from the serial number), about $150 for a well worn basic model, to $375 for excellent, target barrel and sights.
If it is a blued 357 with adjustable sights, it is probably a Model 15.
You have to tell us who made it.
Your serial number and good description helps pinpoint this Smith and Wesson as a model 38 single action second model(model 2,2nd issue) which was made from 1877-1891.The serial numbers ranged from 1-108,255.If you have a barrel length of 8in,or 10in.this will bring a premium. There is also a premium for a blued model with mottled grips.I hope that you find this information helpful.
Yes
Model numbers did not come into use until @1957
Your question can't be answered as written. What Model? What are ALL the markings? What gauge? How long is the barrel? What type of finish? Mossberg 500C, 20 gauge, 26" accu-choke, serial number K064007, checkered wood stock, blued barrel, vented rib barrel.
Can you describe in more detail what you have, such as is the gun a semi-auto,or a single action? also the lenght of barrel, blued steel or nickel, barrel lengh etc. This will help as it could be you have a single action commemorative or special edition.
Should be marked on the barrel
Check the receiver and barrel.
On the barrel.
