It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.
By Canon Law (Church Law), an oil lamp, know as a Sanctuary lamp, must always be burning before the Blessed Sacrament. This is usually a clear or red glass lamp on or above the altar where the Blessed Sacrament is reposed.
A candle over the tabernacle encased in red glass is always lit when the blessed sacrament is reserved there. It is called the sanctuary lamp.
Since we are entering a sacred place, many will make the sign of the cross before entering church, and the water they sign with has been blessed. We use water as a sign of new life with and in Jesus so that we might be will be spiritually renewed.
Catholics genuflect in Church ONLY if the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the sanctuary. In other words, they are genuflecting to God physically present in the front of their Church. As protestants don't even believe that this is physically possible, despite Our Blessed Lord's repeated assertion in the 6th chapter of St. John's Gospel, then why would they genuflect? You genuflect to God, protestants do not believe that God is in their "churches" so is no need for them to genuflect.
Sacraments are not things that are 'kept' in the church. They are religious ceremonies or acts of the Catholic Church that are regarded as an outward and visible sign of divine grace. If you are referring to the Eucharist, the Blessed Sacrament, it is kept in the tabernacle.
A cross is the sign for a church
The Pope is Our Blessed Lord's Vicar on earth, He first appointed St. Peter as head of His Church (see St. Matthew Gospel, 16:17-19). The Pope, and his successors are the visible sign of Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ's, unity and headship of His Church. Like the Prime Minister on which Our Blessed Lord based it (see Isaiah 22:15-25) there is only one at any one time.
There is no sacred sign mentioned in The Bible. If a church has a sacred sign then it is something people have invented.
