the lord of the flies is the beast that many of the boys believe exist on the island buy it turns out there is no beast. the thing they fear and begin to worship is the savage and fear in themselves. fear has made up these thoughts in their heads and eventually the boys go slightly mad and very savage in trying to defy or deny this beast. a symbol could be the pigs head that Jack puts on a stick.

The title "Lord of the Flies" refers to the translation of the name Beelzebub, a Philistine god associated with demons and fallen angels. In the novel, it symbolizes the inherent evil and savagery within human nature that emerges when societal norms and rules are stripped away, leading to chaos and destruction among the boys stranded on the island. The boys' descent into barbarity underscores Golding's exploration of the dark side of human nature and the capacity for cruelty that lurks within us all.
