The Irish Halfcrown coin contained 75% silver alloyed with 25% copper from 1928 to 1943.

The next Irish Halfcrown to be minted was the 1951 coin which, due to increases in the cost of silver, were made from a copper-nickel alloy until the last minting in 1967.
