Ilocano is mostly spoken in the Ilocos Region in the northern part of the Philippines, particularly in the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union. It is also spoken in some parts of Abra, Tarlac, and Pangasinan.
Two Filipino presidents were born in the Ilocos region: Ferdinand Marcos, who was born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, and Elpidio Quirino, who was born in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Marcos served from 1965 to 1986, while Quirino was president from 1948 to 1953.
