Continental drift is the hypothesis that states that the continents once formed a single land
Based on an apparent fit between Africa and South America Wegener hypothesized that at one time all continents were joined together in a "subcontinent" called Pangaea. The super-continent eventually broke into the smaller continental. which then "drifted" towards their present positions. Wegener supported his hypothesis by using circumstantial evidence, similar to the way that a detective would collect. evidence to solve a crime. There are four lines of evidence:
Continental drift is the idea that Wegener created, that all the continents were once a single landmass which he called Pangaea, and they have since drifted apart.
directionality is often a important aspect of responsiveness Edit:.... dude, you didn't define a single thing...
In continental drift, the plate tectonics move super slowly. It is impossible to feel a single movement, unless there is an earthquake, since they barely move every ... years. It takes a while anyway.
Continental drift
Continental drift is the hypothesis that states that the continents once formed a single land
Well it wasn't so much climate as the fossils that have been found. Fossils have been found in Antarctica of plants that only occur in tropical climates so at one point it must have had a tropical climate. That is the most dramatic example but there are more subtle ones that led him to believe that the continents, at one point, must have been in different locations on the Earth and then moved to where they currently are.
Most people actually state that Darwin beat Wegener to the theory of continental drift as he mentioned in most of his studies about the continents drifting apart and fitting together.
Hypothesis
Hypothesis
It is a hypothesis.
States that the continents were once a single huge landmass. This landmass broke up million years ago and the pieces drifted apart. facing edges of many continents have similar rock formations. If the continents brought togehter, the formations would match exactly (like combining South America and Africa). Fossils of the same kinds of living things have been found on different continents. Perhaps these living things were together on one landmass before it split.
vertex
a variable
Plate tectonics.
Whether or not you write down an hypothesis, if you conduct an experiment, you naturally have a hypothesis since you are trying to find the answer to something and have some sort of expectations.
