How do you motivate employees to avoid absenteeism and insubordination?

A good way to curb absenteeism is to make class as interesting as possible for the students. Other options include giving extra credit assignments to students that are in class which shows the absent students the benefits of going to class. If you don't want to give out extra credit give pop quizzes that absent students are not allowed to make up. Of course, if you are going to give those pop quizzes, be sure to allow the students one or two grace periods because sometimes there are legitimate reasons as to why a student might be absent.

∙ 10y agoThere are different ways of approaching this. Here are some that come to mind:
1. Make school more interesting and relevant for the students in question. It doesn't mean to change what is taught as much as how it is presented. If the problem is mostly among boys, then find ways to relate things to survival, sports, activity, and so on. There is an ethnic divide for some students when it comes to education, so you have to find out what they value and latch onto that to get them interested.
2. Increase parental involvement. Of the children who don't attend school, a lot avoid it because their parents don't care.
3. Increase laws and enforcement. If parents can be jailed for not making sure their children are in school, that can increase involvement.
4. For troubled kids, all year schools or alternative schools might be a better option.
5. Reduce bullying and other things that keep kids out of schools.
6. Make schools more interesting by allowing more forms of self-expression and stop with the draconian dress codes. If that increases disruption, then punish the disruptive students, not the ones who are dressed differently. If someone becomes disruptive over how others dress, what they say, or what they do, so long as it isn't directed to them, then they are the ones with the problem.
