In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Unification I, Spock's father Sarek dies at the age of 203.(Although Mark Lenard appeared as Sarek in only one episode of the original series, he ended up reprising the role of Sarek six more times:as the voice of Sarek in the animated series episode Yesteryear,in the movie Star Trek III: The Search for Spock,in the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home,in the movie Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country,in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Sarek, andin the ST:TNG episode Unification I.)
He is put in a modified photon torpedo tube a shot down to the surface of the Genesis planet at the end of Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. He is then retrieved from the Genesis planet and revived in Star Trek 3: The Search For Spock
In the episode "Amok Time", McCoy fakes Kirk's death by injecting him with a drug before he goes into combat with Spock. In the movie Star Trek: Generations, Kirk dies twice: saving the Enterprise from the approaching Nexus, and again helping Picard stop Soren from obliterating a star.
When a star dies a big explosion erupts. The star will then crumble in to tiny microscopic pieces of rock.

Keep in mind that the timeline was altered in the film Star Trek (2009), so the fates of various characters has and could change from that point forward. It has nothing to do with the actor's (Bruce Greenwood) relationship with JJ Abrams. Greenwood has expressed gratitude for playing Christopher Pike, and has acted in Abrams' other films.

Jean-Luc Picard's death has not been shown or described. Last time he was seen, in Star Trek Nemesis, he would have been 74.
Captain Kirk dies while on Veridian III. He and Captain Picard are in a fight with a nut job named Soran. Kirk dies after suffering injuries from a metal catwalk collapsing beneath him. Picard then buried him nearby. (After defeating Soran.)
