Practically all of the significant radiation of any kind (including microwaves) that the Earth receives is from the sun. We also get a tiny amount from other stars, not enough to make a difference to the living conditions on Earth, but enough so that we can detect and see them. We can use microwaves to detect some of these stars, and other objects in the universe.
