A 2001 Kia Sephia plug gap is between 7mm-8mm or .028-.032 thousandths of an inch. My sephia was recommended as .044 at parts store and most auto forums online. Car always ran rough on highway and sputter whenever I gave it gas. I set plug gap to .030 and the Sephia is ready for another 150k miles. Runs great. Have been fighting this for almost a year. Also, the manufacturer states the recommended plug gap on the emissions sticker located under the hood. Usually this is a postcard sized white sticker with black text located on the underside of the hood or in the engine compartment. I hope this helps as it has helped me.
