pull and plug vacuum line to spark computer, adjust timing
There is no ignition module on a 1987 5th ave. The spark control computer is on the air cleaner with a vacuum line hooked to it.
It is on the air cleaner. If the sticker is still intact it will say "electronic spark control", or "electronic fuel control" on it. It will have a vacuum line plugged in to it, and a couple of wire harnesses.
If your spark plug doesn't screw in your threads might be messed up. Run down to your local Part store and ask for a Thread Chasser($arround 10$) and screw that in to your spark plug housing just as you where screwing in a spark plug. What this does is it replaces the threads. Take out the chasser, Lubricate your spark plug and you should be good to go.
The book says to use champion rn12yc spark plugs so I did, a month later my 87 wouldn't start and I didn't think it could be the plugs, it was I put Bosh spark plugs in and it started but was misfiring so I put Bosh spark plug wires ( 32.99 at autozone) and haven't had a problem since.
more than likely 0.035 but check your local library or google since its the 21st century
just from what ive heard it could be the battery cable loose or spark plugs may be bad.
Faulty gap settings on plugs or points or both. faulty cap. Note if cap was dropped it could have developed microscopic cracks which allows spark to go through the cap. Timing not set correctly. dirty fuel filter or/and bad fuel.
My Chrysler 300 SRT8 with a 5.7 Hemi has 16 spark plugs
9 times out of 10 it is due to a bad coil. Where is your coil? Follow the spark plug wires until all of them come together. Auto parts store can check the coil for you.
It has spark plugs, plug wires, and a distributor.
