If I had an unpaid ticket in NJ that caused my license to be suspended in 1992 & when the year 2003 arrived and NJDMV had me going around satifying all my tickets to different municipal court houses in which I did and I received my license after I paid my restoration fee so now I've been driving since tractor trailers and I relocated to the state of NC since 03/2007 and I've been unemployed now since 07/2009 and I have a company that's willing to hire me now except that NJ suspended my license 11/2008 from what they say unpaid tickets from 03/1992 and I like to know do I have to pay this since it's been 16+ years & I don't have a receit . Please help

∙ 13y agoIn general, not there is not. Statute of Limitations is to prevent someone being accused of something years after it happened when witnesses are not available and memories are not fresh. A ticket eliminates this issue. Once a ticket has been issued, there is no requirement that there be any sort of time frame associated with resolving it. As laws vary form place to place, you would have to check with the issuing authority, city, county or state to resolve this citation.

In this case, you have already been notified of the violation and have not defended against it in the time allotted. A traffic ticket is a notice of violation. Some jurisdictions will stop trying to collect, or declare on amnesty on tickets on a specific time frame.

∙ 10y agoNew Jersey has no statute of limitations for parking tickets. The purpose of a statute of limitations is to make sure your are notified of your violation or crime in a timely manner. You were duly informed and charged with the violation by the ticket.
