pupal stage
The butterfly forms a cocoon, or "pupa" during the third stage (out of four, total) of it's life. The Caterpillar forms a protection shield called Pupa when it has finished growing. Most of the transformation takes place in side Pupa. This is also known as the "Chrysalis Stage".
Caterpillars are butterflies. Think of it as tadpoles and frogs. The tadpole is a step in the life-cycle of a frog. The caterpillar is also a part of the like-cycle of a butterfly. It is just how babies grow and develop. A baby is always a baby, they just go through different steps in development, but once a baby, always a baby.

Another metaphor for the step from adolescence to adulthood is a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Just as a caterpillar undergoes a transformative process to break free from its cocoon and take flight, adolescents navigate challenges and experiences that help shape their identity and independence. This metamorphosis signifies growth, self-discovery, and the embrace of new responsibilities, ultimately leading to a vibrant and empowered adult life.
