The bottom point would represent the secular leader, the conical sides would represent his/her/its subordinates of various ranks, the contents of the funnel represent the power and wealth, provided by the initiated masses of believers, which the ranks of subordinates then 'funnel' to their leader. The initiated masses would be represented by the mouth of the funnel.
