I use it as the mute button in Google Chrome all the time and wasn't able to use it as full screen, hence the question.

When you are on the home screen, use the small gray rocker switch on the left edge of the phone to change the ringer volume to mute (the scale goes from 0-7, 0 is mute, 7 is the loudest possible).

Basically in the bottom right corner of your computer screen there is a button with an icon of a speaker , if you can't see it then go the arrow and click it , then click it once and click mute.
