What is the reason for time difference between New Zealand and South Africa?

Despite what some people might say about NZ being about 20 years behind the rest of the world NZ is in fact ahead as the international date line is just to the East of NZ - NZ is about 160degrees East of Jo'burg so it is roughly 160/360 x 24 hours or 10 hours ahead of South Africa. If you go east from NZ you go back in time once you cross the date line
