The top speed of a CBR1000RR is about 187mph, the same as all other superbikes these days. This is result of a self-imposed speed restricition by the motorcycle companies to keep their bikes relatively safe. Edit* There is no such thing as "self-imposed" speed restriction. The guy who wrote that is an idiot. The proof in this is 1. buy a 1000rr (i have already) 2. go to 187mph (done it) 3. keep going faster. speedometer will show 187 but the RPM's are continuing to climb. there is nothing "restricting your speed", just restricting on what it is saying on the speedometer. I will also add that the 1000rr does not even go up to 187. I was tested at Pacific Raceways over and over again. My speedometer showed 174mph just before Turn1 but the radar showed 168mph. I will guess the top speed of a 2007 1000rr, running 190/55 profile tires, no mirrors, sea-level (or about) elevation - will probably do around 180 miles per hour. the 2008 models have a few more hp, but not enough to do 187. probably 183-184mph.
The honda CBR 1000rr can do a top speed of 260 mph
7. Honda CBR 1000RRThe CBR 1000RR is the lightest at 199kg / 440lb, most compact, and best performing motorcycle in its class, making it the standard against which all other lighter bikes are measured. With 178hp / 133 kW this new 1000RR will provide delicate balance at MSRP of $12,999USD. The CBR 1000RR will do 0 to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds and has top speed of 290km/h.http://top-10-list.org/2009/04/16/2009-performance-sports-bikes/A top speed of 290kmph? I personally have taken it to 299 kmph and that's the speed where the speedometer gets locked.
