Hey there. I own a 97 Sportster which orignally started out as an 883 hugger.

Got kitted up to 1200, wanged on a revtech carb and filter for better breathing, drag pipes that are de-baffled.

It's got a wild growl that you either love or hate, it's definitely loud though.

Iv'e had mine up to around 180kph with throttle left......

Ive read articles about Sporties being crappy off the mark and slow, well I know for a fact that I've dragged off a number of big blocks from the lights as Iv'e done this repeatedly with my mates, power to weight ratio !

It doesn't compare with a Japa crotch rocket, but then, it's not supposed to, it's a Harley !

I get major slidage from the rear wheel when I brake hard and fast, but you just adjust your riding style to suit, it's fun in the wet !

Apparently when tuned up properly, with my set up I get better response at the top end, which equates to higher top speed, it's also supposed to mean crappy response at lower revs.....doesn't feel like it.

On a 2002 Harley-Davidson Sportster, the speed sensor is typically located on the transmission near the rear of the bike. It is mounted on the primary cover, specifically on the right side of the transmission. The sensor reads the rotational speed of the transmission's output shaft to provide speed information to the speedometer. If you need to access or replace it, ensure the bike is securely supported and consider consulting the service manual for detailed instructions.
