Christmas in Honduras is a remarkable holiday. This is the one time of the year where families try to come together. In Catholic families, Christmas is celebrated on December 24th, and traditional families go to Midnight Mass and then get together for what is known as "Cena Navideña" or Christmas Dinner. This meal includes "tamales", roasted pork, roasted turkey and the traditional "torrejas" for dessert. It is a time of rejoicing. Homes are brightly decorated and most families put up a "Nacimiento" or Nativity scene which in smaller towns or very traditional families can take up an entire room.
