The distance i km is close to 550.
The distance in time is much more interesting.
you have to look into 3 parameters.
1) Out of Dar
2) The good road
3) The bad road'
Driving after dark is not an option......
ad 1) go early morning before 7, it will take 15 to 30 minutes depending on the traffic. rush hour morning up to 1 hours. rush hour evening infinite (used 2½ one day).
ad 2) the good road will take 4 to 5 hours in a good car, it is not recommended to go more than 120 km/h and there is a lot of small towns.
ad 3) the bad section is now 10 km with a good serviceroad, and then 50 km on a very bad section. In the raining season the road can be closed in several days, but normally it is opened. but if it is raining you have to wait for trucks that is stocked. If you have a good 4x4 (not RAV 4) in the dry season the bad section takes 1½ hour, Last time (3 weeks ago) it took me 6 hours in a Toyota Landcruiser GX (it was raining). On a KTM 525 EXC (off road bike)you can do it 45 minutes.
On a good day calculate 5 to 6 hours, if you ask arround i Dar, many will tell you that you can do it in 4 hours but dont believe them... it is not possible I have done that road many times.
