What connects the upper and lower respiratory systems?

The Cricoid cartilage. The larynx is the organ at the end of the upper respiratory tract (responsible for preventing food and drink going down the airway and contains the vocal chords) the trachea is the first organ in the lower respiratory tract (the windpipe). The thyroid cartilage is located around the mid to lower larynx and the cricoid cartilage links the bottom of the larynx to the top of the trachea. The epithelial cells (internal surface) change from mostly squamous cells (smooth lining) to columnar epithelial cells (many with microscopic hairlike protrusions called cilia).

How does cell structure suggest cell function?

A living cell is considered the unit of life. Various metabolic activities are carried out by different cell organelles. To perform special functions cell get modified structurally. For example cells providing mechanical support get thickened, those meant for conduction of water and food material change structurally in to xylem and phloem tissues.

Why aren't all cells exactly alike?

The way a cell looks and behaves depends on which genes are expressed. This means that if a certain set of genes are being transcribed and translated, the cell taken on a certain role (for example an epithelial cell). If a different set of genes are being expressed, the cell takes on a different role (like a brain cell for example) It is important to remember that these sets of genes that are being expressed do not change over time. This means an epithelial cell can only give rise to epithelial daughter cells and not a different cell type

Can inflammed tissue be scar tissue?

The processes are a bit different, in scar tissue connective tissue has been added to the site whereas tissues surrounding inflammation sites change to allow easier access to water carrying immunological agents, nutrients, etc.

Which of the four basic tissue types are involved in carcinomas or adenocarcinomas?

Carcinogens are most influenced by epithelial. They originate in epithelium because they begin on the surface. Observations suggest that carcinogens most commonly don't penetrate tissue very deeply.

What is the difference between photoablation and vaporization?

photowaporization : cutting tissues by fast evaporation of water, so the tissues will be separated photoablation : influence of energy of laser cause the change matter state into plasma, so there arise strong electromagnetic waves and it will be tear the tissues thule_88@o2.pl
