The 'ERG' is the standard unit for work or mechanical energy.
Same as the unit for energy. Work can be thought of as the transfer of certain types of energy. In the SI, the unit is the joule.
A joule is a unit of measure for energy or work done. It does not directly measure force, but is related to it through the equation Work = Force x Distance.
The unit of work is the joule (J), which is a measure of energy transferred when a force acts on an object over a distance.
The international unit for energy (and work) is the joule.
work and energy +++ The Joule (J) is the unit of energy, alone, not of work. The Watt (W) is the unit of power, i.e. work done in converting or transferring energy, and 1W = 1J/s.
Joules (J) or Newton Metres (Nm)
time
The standard unit used to measure shaft work in mechanical systems is the Joule (J).
The unit used for ANY type of energy is the joule.
Work done is a measure of expended energy, so the SI unit for work done is the same as for energy - the Joule.
The unit for work on an inclined plane is the same as work on a flat surface: Joules (J). Work is a measure of energy transfer, and the unit Joule represents the amount of energy transferred when a force of one Newton is applied over a distance of one meter.
