it is made for chopping so that you don't destroy your table. you can easily change it to a new one but buying a new table every second month is a little bit too much, don't you think?
so that it is a surface to chop sread insted of chopping sreading on the kitchen bench i prefer plastic but the wooden is the same quality

Depends on the color of vegetables you are chopping ... I would always use a board that gives a contrast so I can locate small parts easily. Don't use black ... black boards look like you are planning to kill someone. Never use multicolored. Leftovers are harder to spot. Maybe use white ... its easy to clean and looks tidy, too.

Once the fire is out and the board is cool, you can use it, but you will have a melted edge or if it was in the center you will have a hole.
