Work
In order for work to be done on an object, the object must move some distance as a result of your force.
Resistance force is the force that an effort force must overcome to work on an object by way of a simple machine.
A person pushing a box across a floor:· Mass of box = 20 KG, Weight of Box = 196.2· Distance moved in the direction of the force = 2m· Work Done = Force X Distance ( in the direction of the force), 196.2 X 2= 392.4 Joules
because you need the force to move it over some distance
Some exmples of forces are- an object begining to move an object speeding up an object begining to slow down or stop moving an object changing direction an object remaining still
You do work
when you exert a force on an object that causes the object to move some distance.
When you exert a force on an object that causes the object to move some distance .
Is done when a force exerted on an object causes that object to move some distance; equals to force times distance; measured in joules (j)

If you wish to actually move an object, some other force on the object has to be greater than the force of friction.

Work = force x distance. If the object doesn't budge, no energy is transferred (no work is done). Some energy may be wasted, but no work is transferred.Work = force x distance. The force needed to accelerate an object at some rate is proportional to the object's mass. The object may be moved by as small a force as you want. It just won't accelerate at a very high rate.
