A questionnaire is a list of specific questions that are designed to yield the answers to the research questions you have. Usually a questionnaire is used for a survey and has specific answer options. Sometimes it also includes open ended questions with no preset answers to choose. A sample of people from the populations you want to study will answer it, and you use statistics to understand how the underlying population thinks and feels. A list of questions to be used in qualitative research is instead called a discussion guide or interview guide. A test is usually done in order to understand the answer to a research question as well. But usually you are testing something specific. In marketing research this might be a new product or advertisement. The test might be done using a survey, focus groups, or test market, but it seeks to see whether the product should be launched, changed, or scrapped altogether.

I tested reliability of my questionnaire though SPSS and it gives me a result which shows if i delete more than 15 questions, my questionnaire will be reliable. But then i am afraid my questionnaire will get very short and i might get questioned on my defense day. So what is the right number of questions that are enough for an APA style quantitative research method? (research is on women higher education, resources and hurdles)
