For 1971 & 1972 only proof versions of this coin with "S" mintmarks were struck in 40% silver and have values of about $6.00. None of the coins released into circulation contain any silver. People call them silver dollars just because of the size.

It's not a rare date, so scarcity isn't a factor. Also, given that it's made of mostly copper with a bit of nickel, with a current melt value of only 18 cents, it won't be worth anything above face value unless copper prices skyrocket.
