Revelation was the Western Auto Supply Company store brand for their rifles, shotguns, and revolvers. The Model 220B was made by Mossberg and is the same as the Mossberg 800. This is a short-action center fire bolt action rifle with a unique bolt containing 6 locking lugs in two spirals. The rifle was available in .308 Winchester, .243 Winchester, and .22-250. Under the Revelation brand, the rifle was available in standard hunting configurations. The stock was hardwood, often Walnut, with impressed checkering unique to Revelation rifles. This checkering contained an plain oval in both the forend and the pistol grip area. All parts available for the Mossberg 800 standard sporter models will fit the Revelation 220 (including the Mannlicher stock).

Is it marked "3 in" on the side of the barrel or receiver? If not, take it to a gunsmith and ask him to measure the chambers. Blue Book doesn't indicate a B series, and this COULD have been Savage's way of indicating longer chambers. Since the first model 220's were made in 1938, it is quite possible that the chambers are only 2 3/4 and, although a 3" shell would go in, the crimped or rolled end could not open fully.

There isn't a 220P. There is a 220F, which is bolt action, and a 220B, which is single shot and breaks open. It will state on the barrel if it is 2-3/4" or 3". 3" will fire either. You can load a 3" into a 2-3/4" chamber, but you should not. Both guns will handle all modern 12 gauge ammo, as long as you stick to the proper length shell if it is 2-3/4" Next is the choke. It is possible to fire slugs through any choke, but it is not recommended to fire them through anything tighter than Improved cylinder (IC). It should state on the barrel. I expect most are "Mod" (Modified) which is tighter than IC.
