∙ 15y agoTechnically there's no such coin; until 1866 the U.S. only struck a coin called a half-dime that served as the 5 cent piece. Nickels were introduced that year and half-dimes were discontinued in 1873.
If your coin is about 15 mm in diameter and says Half Dime on the back, its value as of 08/2008 ranges from $44 in worn condition to $60 with moderate wear to about $100 with only slight wear.
