All New Zealand pennies are made mostly of copper. Nobody makes coins from a metal that grossly outvalues the denomination of the coin. If you have a "silver" penny, it will be because somebody has plated it. A New Zealand 1945 Penny, uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to $80 NZD. If it has been rattling around in somebody's pocket but still in good condition, it might fetch up to $1 NZD. A New Zealand 1945 Penny (burnished), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch up to $400 NZD. There were 4.764 million minted. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.
