That's the most common design for Canadian halves of the period so it's not a distinguishing characteristic. Several varieties of this coin were struck and values range from $3 or so up to $25. You'd need to have it appraised in person by someone familiar with Canadian varieties.

It is an 80% silver coin worth about $10 in silver at today's price of about $33 per ounce but it is also a low mintage coin (about 150,000) were minted. That is lower than any other silver 50 cent piece except for the very rare 1948. There are still many 1956 half dollars around as most are in the hands of collectors. In above average condition it should be worth at least $20.

Like many older coins, the value depends on the grade. In poor condition it is worth sterling silver scrap, about $12-14 depending on silver spot price.

In better grade though the coin can be worth $50+

Such a coin does not exist.

Canada has not used the British sterling currency system since the mid-19th century.

I believe there is chance your coin is British, because Canada did not mint a half penny. A book I have says a 1958 British half penny is worth 10 cents to $2 depending on its condition.

Did they make a 1935 Canadian half dollar?

yes, the royal Canadian mint has made a half dollar for every year ever since the mint was founded in 1908. it may be hard to find a 1935 half dollar because most collectors look for the 1935 dollar, the first Canadian dollar minted for circulation.
